The E-City-Logistics project was part of the Berlin / Potsdam model region as one of eight German model regions in which numerous demonstration projects are to promote and illustrate the introduction of electromobility. The project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs (BMVBS), comprises nine project participants, including DHL and the freight forwarder/logistician Meyer & Meyer. The aim of the E-City-Logistics project is to link electromobility and city logistics. On the one hand, new concepts in the CEP sector (courier, express and parcel delivery) are being tested with trucks of ?3.5 t. On the other hand, two trucks of ?7.5 t are being used for textile transport in the city area. The introduction of new electromobility city logistics concepts is being supported by regulatory measures. The DLR Institute for Transport Research (IVF) took on the socio-scientific accompanying research for the project and worked closely with Fraunhofer IKP and the Berlin VMZ to reduce the use of electric vehicles to below
the aim of the project was to show the traffic-related as well as the energy- and environmental potential of electrically driven vehicles in inner-city delivery traffic. the sociological accompanying research focused on the investigation of acceptance, user behaviour as well as behavioural changes among transport service providers, drivers, customers and residents. the project used various empirical methods, including a written survey of drivers, interviews with residents and customers as well as participatory observation.
For e-city logistics I applied various methods of empirical data collection and transformed the resulting data into information and knowledge.
