What this project is about
Parcel lockers can be a component of urban-compatible city logistics. The project investigates the requirements and opportunities associated with their use in Berlin and how these can be professionally combined into a concept.
Together with LNC LogisticNetwork Consultants, Wissensbasierte Planung is developing a concept for the use of provider-neutral parcel lockers in Berlin on behalf of the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Action and Environment. The work combines literature and practical research with the evaluation of stock and administrative data. GIS-supported analyses are supplemented by guideline-based interviews with relevant stakeholders.
The findings are examined along various dimensions, for example spatial, operational, legal and usage-related issues. In doing so, different types of area and the respective general conditions are taken into account. The aim is a robust and administratively viable working basis that supports the stakeholders involved in approval and implementation in dealing in a structured manner with questions regarding the further design of parcel lockers.
